Advantage Fundraiser 1.11
Development work is now underway on the next version of Advantage Fundraiser, due for release this Autumn.
Gift Aid changes will be the "headline act" along with links with social media sites.

Gift Aid Cut To 4 Years
Third Sector has reported that the amount of time that charities have to reclaim Gift Aid on donations will fall by two years from April 2010, HM Revenue & Customs has confirmed.
The rules currently allow charities to submit claims on donations made up to six years previously, but this is to be reduced to four from 1 April next year. The obvious impact for smaller charities is a need to introduce systems now to reclaim for prior years before the cutoff from April 2010.

Redbourn Business Systems is proud to announce that we now use a web hosting service that is provided by the first large web host who relies solely on renewable energy. We believe in a sustainable society for all and that every business has a role in this responsibility. We are therefore making a strong commitment to fight pollution and preserve our natural resources, starting with our web hosted service. Our host now uses wind, water and solar power in accordance with the Renewable Energy Certification System (RECS).

Advantage Fundraiser Version 1.10 is now in the final stages of testing and will be available for customer download the week commencing 27th April 2009. Exciting new features include the dashboard home screen, new search conditions, new reports and more.

CHASE – Charities and Associations Exhibition 2009
We will shortly be exhibiting at the Charities & Associations Exhibition – 2009, on Tuesday 24th and Wednesday 25th of February at the Business Design Centre, Islington, London, where we will be offering a 10% discount voucher to visitors to our stand. Fundraising in an Economic Downturn
New research from the Institute of Fundraising, the Charity Finance Directors’ Group and PricewaterhouseCoopers reports the findings of 382 surveyed charities, as reported by Charity Times.
It shows that 71% of respondents are taking proactive steps to protect themselves from future instability. Lindsay Boswell, chief executive of the Institute of Fundraising commented “.. this report shows that with the right tools, knowledge and support charities can weather the credit crunch, and in some cases it may even provide opportunities for further fundraising”.

VAT Changes
The reduction in VAT from 17.5 percent to 15 percent is obviously good news for charitable organisations who can rarely reclaim VAT on purchases. The chancellor has announced this comes into effect from 1st December 2008. In the meantime <b>we will reduce our charges to ensure that any of our products or services you buy now already reflect the reduction.
P.S. Advantage Fundraiser already supports the new rate, but if you are unsure of the impact of the VAT changes on your fundraising or membership database please contact our Helpdesk.

Advantage Fundraiser 1.9
The countdown is close to zero, with the next release of Advantage Fundraiser being available on general release from Wednesday 12th November 2008 onwards. This is a major release with significant new functionality. The latest Installation Instructions and New Features Guide will be emailed to each customer next week. If you haven’t received this by Wednesday 17th November please contact the Advantage Fundraiser helpdesk.

Advantage Fundraiser Survey Results
We have just completed a short survey into the screen resolution customers use when running Advantage Fundraiser. The results were unanimously in favour of withdrawing support for a screen resolution of 800x600. The minimum screen resolution for version 1.9 onwards will therefore be set to 1024x768. Please contact the Helpdesk if you did not participate in the survey and if withdrawing support for 800x600 will cause you a problem.

IDPE Conference
Annie and Steve have just got back from the Institute of Development Professionals 7th Annual Conference, which was held on 5th and 6th June 2008 in Elstree. Over 150 Development Directors, Development Managers, Headmasters, and others enjoyed the seminar program on subjects as varied as defining the attributes of a Development Director to "Making the most of your database". The organisers pulled out all of the stops this year to make sure that everything ran smoothly and all the delegates we spoke to gave great feedback on the content and presentation of the seminars.
